FAQs
Everything you want to know before we start planning.

A good travel adviser saves you time, reduces stress, and gets you access to things you simply can't access on your own.
Through a network of global travel partners — destination specialists, DMCs, and operators on the ground in key destinations — I'm able to add a layer to a trip that no booking platform can replicate. These are people who know a destination from the inside, who open doors that aren't visible from the outside, and who make the difference between a good trip and one that feels genuinely considered.
What I bring is judgement — knowing which questions to ask, which details matter, and how to match the right experience to the right person. And when something goes wrong mid-trip, you have one person to call who already knows your booking inside out.
-
Yes — I charge a planning fee for all new client engagements. The fee is based on the structure of your trip:
Hotel Only — Complimentary. No planning fee for hotel-only bookings.
Single Destination — $250
Multi-Destination (up to 3 stops) — $500
Multi-Destination (4+ stops or extended itineraries) — Fee on enquiry
Groups, Weddings & Retreats — Fee on enquiry
The planning fee is separate from your trip cost and non-refundable. It covers the research, curation, and coordination that goes into building something genuinely tailored to you — not a template, not a package, something built around how you actually travel.
The fee is introduced upfront, before any research begins. Once received, I get started.

FORA Travel is my host agency — a Virtuoso-affiliated travel network with preferred partnerships at hotels, lodges, and operators around the world. In practical terms, it means my clients have access to benefits at preferred partner properties that aren't available when booking directly or through a standard booking platform — things like complimentary breakfast, room upgrades on arrival, hotel credits, and dedicated VIP recognition. You get the same rate you'd pay directly, with added value on top.
-
No — in almost all cases the rate is identical to what you'd pay booking directly with the hotel. Where preferred partner rates apply, you may actually pay less. The difference is that booking through me adds value on top of that rate — perks, recognition, and someone looking after your reservation from confirmation to check-out.
-
Sometimes, yes. If you've booked a refundable rate directly with the hotel, I can often do a takeover booking and add my preferred partner benefits. Reach out and I'll check whether it's possible for your specific property and dates.
-
If you love researching travel, I'm not here to replace that — I'm here to add a layer you can't get on your own. That means preferred rates and perks at properties you've already identified, relationships with the right people at hotels and lodges, coordination of the details that are time-consuming even when you know what you want, and someone on your side if something goes wrong mid-trip. The clients who get the most from working with me are often the ones who already know exactly where they want to go.

The short answer is — a lot. I work with families planning big international trips and couples celebrating a honeymoon or milestone anniversary. I plan group trips and wedding room blocks, where coordinating multiple families or parties across hotels, flights, and experiences requires someone who can hold all the moving parts together. I work with solo travelers, friends traveling together, and multigenerational groups where three generations need one trip that works for everyone. If travel is involved and it matters to get it right, I can help.
In terms of where I specialize — Australia and New Zealand are my deepest areas of expertise, and I hold the Aussie Specialist credential through Tourism Australia. Safari and Africa travel is a growing specialism — I'm an A&K Africa Specialist and have completed extensive training across East and Southern Africa. Beyond that I plan regularly to Europe, Caribbean, Japan, the Pacific Islands, and across the US and Mexico. I often work closely with destination specialists and DMCs on the ground in key regions — people with firsthand, local knowledge who bring an additional layer of depth and access to a trip.

Yes — through FORA Flights I can assist with premium economy, business, and first class bookings. A separate fee may apply. For economy bookings, you'll generally get a better result booking directly with the airline or through a points program.
-
For most international trips, 3 to 6 months gives us enough lead time to secure the right hotels and experiences. For safari travel, peak season departures, or high-demand properties, 9 to 12 months is strongly recommended — the best camps and lodges fill well in advance. For honeymoons and milestone trips, earlier is always better.
-
No — there's genuine value in having the right adviser for any trip, regardless of length. A few nights in London done properly is worth just as much as a three-week itinerary. If the hotel matters, the neighbourhood matters, or you simply want someone to handle the details — I can help.
